King gizzard and the lizard wizard

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard release new album

Earlier this week, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard dropped their fifteenth album to date – and their second just this year. It follows on from their April release, the jazzy and electro-glam LP Fishing for Fishies. However, in true King Gizzard fashion, their new album Infest the Rats’ Nest is far from its predecessor. In fact, the record has basically catapulted itself from a world of boogieing to one of apocalyptic thrash metal.

Drawing inspiration from mid-1980’s Metallica, Slayer and Overkill, the Aussie genre-bending psych rockers have described Infest the Rat’s Nest as their “hardest and heaviest album to date”. Also, the album sees King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard nod to Iron Maiden, Megadeth and Judas Priest. The new record also saw a streamlining of the band just for this project – where Stu Mackenzie, Joey Walker and Michael Cavanagh took over the helm for “tight arrangements and maximum velocity”.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are currently touring the US. Not only that, but they also have a gig at Alexandra Palace (London, UK) on the 5th October! Click here to grab tickets.
