Raye Zaragoza indie pop fight like a girl

Raye Zaragoza is triumphant in ‘Fight Like A Girl’

This is certainly a time where we could all do with some inspiration, so here is ‘Fight Like A Girl’ – an uplifting track from folk singer-songwriter Raye Zaragoza. As a multicultural artist herself, Raye’s new track celebrates the power and resiliance of women from all cultures.

‘Fight Like A Girl’ was produced by Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Modest Mouse, Camera Obscura). “It’s about how ‘fighting like a girl’ means something different to every female identifying person out there”, shares Raye. “It is about the resilience of women of color, and all women.”

Especially during these uncertain times, it is great to discover indie music that helps to lift your spirits and make you feel fearless. Musically, ‘Fight Like A Girl’ is also wonderfully breezy and catchy. And with a discography that is as inclusive as it is likeable, Raye Zaragoza has emerged as an exciting voice for young women.

Raye Zaragoza has garnered attention with both her music and social activism. “As a woman of color in America, social issues are things you deal with and see every day of your life,” she says. To pair with her activism, Raye released a collection of protest music, with “In the River,” responding to the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline near the Standing Rock Sioux reservation in North Dakota. This video received half a million views and national media coverage, earning Raye a Global Music Award and Honesty Oscar.

Raye will release her sophomore LP later this year.
