Calboa returns with indie gem ‘Admission’
Indie riser Calboa is back with a roaring new release. ‘Admission’ is a track which puts him at the forefront of what makes this popular genre so enjoyable.
‘Admission’ kicks off as it means to go on. The guitar melody which welcomes us is cheerful, and it pulls us in from the get-go. The rhythm arrangement is upbeat and it gets the endorphin levels rising with its full production. From the opener, Calboa hits all the right notes with him sounding on top form with a vocal performance which is stimulating.
As Calboa singa from the heart, this track will relate to many who are coming out of the lockdown period. Cleverly, ‘Admission’ adds a new aura to his style. Furthermore, his chorus takes a different position in the mix, slowing it down to give way for a vocal melody line that echoes around your brain nicely after it finishes. Also, the instrumentation is captivating.
Overall, ‘Admission’ is a grower. At first, it comes across generic and comparable to other tracks which have graced the airwaves in previous years. However, the more you listen to it, the more you gravitate towards the Hull musician. It is catchy and the lyricism is poetic, proving that Calboa is not just a strong songwriter but also a master at words.
