Hank Quillen Releases ‘Treading Water’
Hank Quillen, the singer and songwriter based in Nashville, has taken a break from his acting profession to concentrate on his musical vision. By heck, what a decision it was; he exceeds all reasonable expectations. His new single, ‘Treading Water‘, is a brilliant example of indie rock, and it will appeal to those who take pleasure in raw music, which flows with emotion.
The song ‘Treading Water‘ starts off with a crunching guitar tone, which then takes our attention to Hank’s powerful vocal performance as we move further in the song. His singing is trickling with sentiment. Also, he sings about life’s challenges and those moments when all one can see are roadblocks.
Even though the lyrics are relatively sombre and serious, the tune nevertheless has a buoyant edge to it, with a melodic loop frequently emerging out of the woodwork to create an upbeat atmosphere. Ingeniously, the structure is also thrilling, with the drums not appearing until later in the track. Once they do arrive, they provide a new dimension to the mix, and they grip us to their every hit.
Overall, this one from Hank Quillen is a solid release. But, will it be enough to send Hank flying up the indie chart? Only time will tell. Nevertheless, we will not be surprised to see his name increase in popularity as the months’ progress.
