Song of the Week: “The Tracers” by Johnny Marr
From being the ex-lead guitarist and co-songwriter of The Smiths, to collaborations with Hans Zimmer and Blondie, to his five-year gig as a solo artist, Johnny Marr is a rock legend. His upcoming album, Call the Comet, is scheduled to release on 15th June. Our first insight into this much-anticipated album recently arrived in the form of “The Tracers”, Marr’s personal favourite.
The track is a cosmic hybrid of modern synth-pop and post-punk. It even has a cinematic aura to it, and the “whoop whoop” that run through the track evokes “Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones.

What’s to come?
The rest of Call the Comet has been described as imaginative and futuristic, with reflections on his musical past. I, for one, cannot wait for its release. Let’s get ready for the 15th June!
