Twin Atlantic shine with new single ‘Barcelona’

This week, Glasgow trio Twin Atlantic released their second single of 2019. The anthemic ‘Barcelona’ is taken from their forthcoming album, titled POWER. The single follows on from ‘Novocaine’, their first release in three years.

The band’s new offering is a great mix of electronic and rock – as charming as it is refreshing. “This is a love song about being in a film loop – a kaleidoscope of ideas and memories and the first song I’ve tried to write in a vignette style like this” explained Sam McTrusty. “It’s inspired by the unusual arpeggio mono synth part we fell in love with at the opening of the track. It sounds like a mistake and reminded me of when you would see old movie projector reels glitch and fail. It’s romantic and cinematic. It makes fun of love but also puts it up high on a pedestal.”

Despite being released on a label as big as Virgin EMI, Twin Atlantic have self-produced and recorded their forthcoming album in their personal Glasgow studio. And I’m definitely looking forward to hearing more!

POWER will be out on 24th January 2020 via Virgin EMI.

There is also a superb live version of the track, which you can listen to here.

To celebrate the release of the new LP, Twin Atlantic will be heading out on a UK tour in March 2020. They have also announced that they will be performing at next year’s TRNSMT Festival in July, alongside acts such as Liam Gallagher, Courteeners and Foals.
