Dolls announce their sophomore EP “Eggshells”
Rock duo Dolls have announced the release of their forthcoming sophomore EP. Titled Eggshells, the band paired the announcement with the release of its title track.
The new EP will be released as part of the online event Love Record Stores – which will be held on June 20th to celebrate independent record stores. Set within an EP that explores the pair’s experience of their twenties, the title track ‘Eggshells’ commands with its driving drum riffs, retro pop guitars and an irresistable vocal demeanor.
Margo Broom produced and mixed the EP at Hermitage Studio Works in North London. Jade (guitar/vocals) and Bel (drums/vocals) have revealed that Eggshells will be more personal and autobiographical than their previous material. In their words, the new EP will be “about the struggles that we have faced in our 20’s”, revealed Dolls. “Losing friends, creepy men, the strive for perfectionism and day-to-day anxiety. We have written about what we feel is really important as we get older. Musically we have evolved with this EP and although the gritty garage rock is still there we’ve broadened our sound with synths, percussion and multiple vocal layers.” And this new musical variety can definitely be heard in the EP’s title track.
As well as Dolls’ new EP release, limited edition records from the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Caribou, Belle and Sebastian, Beach House and New Order will all also be available to buy online.
