Sunburn roar with new rock single ‘Rainy Day’
With the recent success of Irish bands such as Fontaines D.C., the indie music scene in Dublin has received a new lease of life. A bunch of new bands are now working their way up the ranks, touring local venues and gathering great followings through self-promotion. One of these bands is Sunburn who, after spending the pandemic writing, are back in the studio and releasing new singles. One of these singles is ‘Rainy Day’, an energetic and cheeky rock anthem.
Sunburn consist of musicians Zak Coghlan, Conor McLoughlin, Muirish Waugh and Colm Geraghty, The indie four-piece recorded ‘Rainy Day’ with Philip Magee (The Script, Kodaline and Miles Kane). Inspired by bands such as Catfish and the Bottlemen, The War On Drugs and Oasis, Sunburn have a vibrant, anthemic feel to their music. And ‘Rainy Day’ is no exception. With catchy guitar riffs and cheeky vocals, the chorus of ‘Rainy Day’ erupts into a raw, infectious energy that you only really find with up-and-coming bands.
Sunburn have built their popularity by touring in Cork and Galway live scenes. Most recently, they performed a sellout headline gig at Workman’s Club in Dublin. Sunburn released their debut single ‘Jump the Gun’ independently and it has gathered over 150,000 streams on Spotify through self-promotion alone. Their second single , called ‘All I’m Missin’, had a world exclusive release on BBC Music Introducing. A great start for a very exciting band.
Sunburn have achieved so much in the past 2 years. It will be great to see what’s next for the band. With possible UK tour dates on the horizon, I think they will go a long way!
