Foals release vicious new rock track “Black Bull”
Foals have released the first single from their upcoming album Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2. Fancy some unrelenting rock music? Then you’re in luck – because “Black Bull” is a mammoth track.
As a track which explores destruction, luxurious delusions and masculinity, “Black Bull” is unrelenting. The distorted guitar riffs from Jimmy Smith and the instrumentation’s menacing demeanor is blistering in the best possible way. Yannis Philippakis’ vocals are also unforgiving in their power and Jack Bevan roars in the fiery chaos on drums. When combined, “Black Bull” becomes a relentless and apocalyptic rock track.
Considering this, it is fair to say that “Black Bull” is set a world away from the Mercury Prize-shortlisted Part 1. Instead of cinematic and sophisticated tones set in the first installment, we shall be dealing with heavy rock in Part 2. This has been confirmed by frontman Yannis Philippakis, who has described Part 2 has not only a “heavier listen”, but also as a response to the first. “Part one ended with a lot of fire and destructive imagery, Part Two is trying to respond to that: how you can continue in the wreckage and through the scorched earth?”
Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2 will be out on 18th October via Warner Records.
