Clara Bond unveils new EP and title track ‘Crown’
Since releasing her debut EP Out of Towners in 2016, Exeter country artist Clara Bond has been keeping busy with live gigs supporting artists such as Lindsay Ell, Joey Landreth and Wildwood Kin. She also earned a spot on the Country 2 Country festival, and subsequently, a nomination for ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ in the British Country Music Awards. Now, Bond has released her second EP Crown. The EP features the previously-released singles ‘Does Your Girlfriend Know You’re Single’ and Baby You’d Been On My Mind, with the latter reminding us of ‘Fearless’ era Taylor Swift. Yesterday, we also received its rocking title track.
In the first instance, ‘Crown’ blends the wonderful elements of pop, country and rock. In terms of the rock elements anyway, the indulgent sound of the electric guitar is paired beautifully with her powerful vocals. Yet, genre-wise, the track leaves you guessing. It also takes pleasure in this, using its swagger to take you through its numerous twists and turns. Accordingly, Clara Bond is paving her own path with her rebellion against generic convention and her infectiously fresh sound.
On the EP, Clara has revealed: “This feels like a huge leap for me. I’ve finally found a sound that feels completely my own. I genuinely couldn’t be more proud of this project and the people that were involved in it.”
