Nasty Cherry drop infectious single ‘Live Forever’
LA girl-band Nasty Cherry are a very new feature on the alternative rock and pop scene. Consisting of four friends, this alt-rock band are rising under the management and endorsement of Charli XCX. With a sound that embodies influences from 80’s pop to noughties rock, the band have a refreshing energy and style. 2019 has already heard their great debuts ‘Win’ and ‘What Do You like In Me’. Following this, we now we have their third single – the glossy ‘Live Forever’.
The single was co-written by Charli XCX and produced by Justin Raisen. As a single which explores the containment you feel when you’re stuck on someone, guitarist Chloe Chaidez describes the track as “a fiery smasher about being yourself and dancing through the sadness of life”. With strength and resilience in tow, it is the vibrancy in times of struggle attitude that brings ‘Live Forever’ that infectious but relatable charm.
Musically, ‘Live Forever’ is a track where eighties new wave wonderfully couples up with nineties dream pop. Its drums provide the heartbeat, its bubbly guitar riffs provide the fun, and the girls’ vocals provide the personality. According to Chaidez, the new offering by Nasty Cherry wants to make you “throw their hands in the air and shimmy with their girlfriends”. Verdict? Of course, it does what it says on the tin.
Their debut EP will be out this autumn via Charli’s label Vroom Vroom Recordings. The new single’s uniquely personal music video was directed by the band’s bassist Georgia Somary. Check it out below!
