Temples unveil ‘You’re Either On Something’

Psych-pop trio Temples provided last week with more music from their upcoming album Hot Motion. Having previously released the album’s title track back in July, the band have dropped its second single: the night-wandering ‘You’re Either On Something’.
Above all, ‘You’re Either On Something’ is an all-out psych-rock track. The buzzing bassline, exotic guitar riffs and the dreamy hues are captivating, wonderfully coating the wanderings of the protagonist’s mind at night. Additionally, but it even leaves you wondering about the uncertain and the surreal…
Frontman James Bagshaw has spoken about this psychedelic delight. “I’m really proud of ‘You’re Either On Something’ lyrically because I feel deeply connected with the words – they’re so truthful” he explains. “On that track, I can hear influences of stuff that I listened to when I was growing up. There’s almost a nostalgia to that track, even though it’s very forward-looking.” Therefore, it is that forward-looking nostalgia that gives ‘You’re Either On Something’ a timeless yet fresh feel.
According to the band, Temples’ third album will be darker than their first and second. “It’s not a 10 track, relentless rock record from start to finish, it’s got a lot of light and shade and more tender moments. But that heavier, darker sound is something we wanted to explore further” explained bassist Tom Walmsley.
Hot Motion will be out on September 27th via ATO Records.

This Saturday (17th August 2019), Temples will be headlining John Kennedy’s X-Posure Summer Party with Mystery Jets (who have also released a fab new track called ‘Screwdriver’). There, they will be performing alongside acts such as Marthagunn, APRE and The Mysterines, so click here for event and ticket info.
