MALKA shares bubbly single ‘Moving Together’
Scottish multi-instrumentalist MALKA has released the third single from her upcoming album I’m Not Your Soldier. Following on from the releases of ‘Taking it Back’ and ‘Tiny Fires’, ‘Moving Together’ finds the artist exploring the feelings experienced in the reestablishment of old relationships.
‘Moving Together’ is a bubbly and bright alt-pop delight. The funky bassline grooves around MALKA’s sweet vocals wonderfully, and the synths give a really dreamy depth to the track. The single’s artwork features a 17-year old MALKA performig gymnastics as a former Scottish Champion with her previous teammate.
Regarding the single MALKA says, “‘Moving Together’ is about reconnecting with an old relationship – whether it is a friend, a partner or a family member – and everything feeling just how it was before you had lost touch.”
“The move back from London to Glasgow awoke all kinds of nostalgia for me, being back in my hometown, reconnecting with old friends and feeling like time had melted away. I wanted to create something that projected those feelings – ‘Moving Together’ in time with someone that you had previously been out of sync with.”
So, the result is a beautifully reflective and personal song, with a charm that I am sure will spread through the rest of the upcoming album.
I’m Not Your Soldier, produced by Paul Savage (Mogwai and Franz Ferdinand), will be out on February 28th via Tantrum Records.
