At the end of last week, Johnny Marr released the second single from Call the Comet, his upcoming album. In contrast to his last single, the cosmic “The Tracers,” “Hi Hello” is a classic-sounding track reminiscent of his earlier days as lead guitarist and co-songwriter of The Smiths. It really reminds me of the catchy guitar riff of their 1986 track “There is a Light That Never Goes Out,” one of my favourite songs from the band. Its release has definitely revealed the upcoming album’s variety.
He hasn’t lost his effortless style and sheer guitar prowess either. Check out the awesome video below:
