Shura gives us first date feels with “the stage”
Shura is a British electro-pop artist who now lives in Brooklyn, New York. After releasing her debut album Nothing’s Real in 2016, she is soon to release her second. The romantic forevher will explore the artist’s long-distance relationship with her current girlfriend. Its third single, “the stage”, focuses on their first date which took place at a MUNA gig.
Musically, the sensual “the stage” blends disco tropes from Minnie Ripperton and Prince with electro psych-pop. The dreamy synths and gradual drum beats really help to build the anticipation of the romance that night. Then, we get the electric chorus which brings that potential romance to a climatic reality. Following this, the synths erupt at an appropriate part of the story to signify sparks flying in-between Shura and her love interest.
In sum, “the stage” is perfect for summer – a time for fun and potential romance. Shura’s second album, forevher, will be out on the 16th August via Secretly Canadian.
