Geowulf release new track “Round and Round”
Following on from their “He’s 31” release a few weeks ago, Aussie London-based duo Geowulf have dropped “Round and Round” – another single from their upcoming sophomore album My Resignation.
“Round and Round” was inspired by a frustrating time in Star Kendrick’s life. “I was frustrated with maybe a lack of self-control and an inability to break patterns in my life” she revealed. “This song is my way to poking holes in how I handled that. “The rest of the album follows a similar, emotional narrative all about exploring those old things and how I’ve tried to leave them behind”.
For a track that explores the frustration of going round in circles, the music is accordingly cyclical. Compared to their previous offering “He’s 31”, the new single immediately sets itself on a more energetic plain (which I love). The strumming guitar riffs take centre stage in the lovely chorus, working to pump that spirit into the track with the beating drums. Moreover, Star Kendrick’s vocals are as sweet as always and the track’s synths add another, lovely dimension to the daydreaming. With the press release describing the track as “if Stranger Things collaborated with Stevie Nicks”, the track’s fresh, guitar-driven but retro feel is its highlight.
My Resignation will be out on the 25th October.
