Austen drops video for empowering track ‘Money’

Since the success of her debut single ‘Faded’, Brisbane artist Austen has taken her darkly-relatable pop to new heights. With a steady stream of singles like ‘Too High To Cry’ and ‘Anthem’, she has also toured with the likes of Running Touch, Nicole Millar and AURORA. More recently, she announced that her forthcoming EP Passenger Seat will be out in September. Not only that, but she has also released a colourful music video for her empowering August single ‘Money’.

The ‘Money’ music video sees the artist navigate between perception and reality. Directed by Jeff Anderson Jr., it explores the idea that what you see isn’t always what you get. “We wanted to poke fun at the “opulent” vibe, and the contrast between the way people portray themselves as cool versus the reality” Austen revealed about the video. “It’s a combination of a dark, alluring fantasy and an underwhelming, funny reality which really sums up the whole song (and my whole personality).”

With ‘Money’, Austen has delivered another electro-pop delight which leaves the listener feeling liberated. In partnership with the dark and menacing synths, the track’s infectious pop melody provides ‘Money’ with a real spring in its step. Vocally, Austen is as commanding and captivating as ever.

Passenger Seat will consist of five tracks, including ‘Too High To Cry’, Anthem’ and ‘Money’. The EP will be out on September 19th.
