Jimkata return with energetic single ‘Wait For You’
LA-based indie band Jimkata are feeling in limbo in their energetic new release ‘Wait For You’. After taking a haitus of two and a half years, the three-piece have come back energised.
That endless feeling of limbo is one that we can all relate to in 2020. Many of us are sitting around waiting and hoping for things to look up. Yet, the new track ‘Wait For You’ was written way before the struggles of this year even arised. “I didn’t realize at the time I wrote it how prescient and universal that feeling would become as we experience a global pandemic and a world in chaos,” revealed lead vocalist Evan Friedell.
In ‘Wait For You’, Jimkata place this sentiment of uncertainty within the parameters of a heartbreak-inspired pop song. The analog synths add a lovely touch to the theme of waiting and the poetic lyrics glide blissfully along the building pop hooks. And it isn’t before long that the chorus erupts into the form of a synth-rock anthem, where the track really picks up the pace with its the inscreasing sense of urgency. Thus, the rush that ‘Wait For You’ creates complements this impatience and wish to break that homogenous mould perfectly. And the new energy in this release is very much welcome.
