Liam Gallagher

Liam Gallagher unveils poignant ballad “Once”

After releasing the rebellious “Shockwave” and “The River” earlier this year, Liam Gallagher has dropped “Once”. In contrast to the first two, the poignant third offering from the Manchester icon’s upcoming 2nd solo LP Why Me? Why Not situates itself on a plain of regret.

If there is a lesson to be learned from this track, then it’s to not let moments pass you by. As Liam sings, “you only get to do it once” and you often realise this when it’s just too late. Regarded by Liam as one of his best songs, “Once” has hints of John Lennon and shows the ex-Oasis frontman’s knack for calmer more poignant tracks. On the first listen, the acoustic track is striking and hard-hitting in a beautiful manner. First of all, the first verse and hints of the first chorus glide wonderfully across the acoustic guitar’s wanderings. Then, in a similar tone to “For What It’s Worth” from his first solo album, the awakening second verse and chorus shines with the erupting strings and beating drums as Liam Gallagher ponders over his feelings of regret.

His 2nd album offering sees the return of As You Were producers Andrew Wyatt and Greg Kurstin. I’m very excited for its release. Why Me? Why Not is out on September 20th via Warner Records.

On the 3rd August, the famous Mancunian will also be performing for MTV Unplugged in Hull. If you didn’t manage to grab tickets for this, then don’t worry – it will air on MTV on September 23rd!
